WHY PAY FOR ACCESS FOR GOVERNMENT JOBS WHEN YOU CAN HAVE 24/7 ACCESS FOR “FREE?”.
The only government job site that is truly “FREE!”
And now comes the job interview. You have scoured the internet in search of that perfect job, posting resumes, and connecting with perspective employers through social networking websites. You receive a phone call and the person says, “We would like to schedule you for a job interview on Tuesday at 9:30 am. Now what do you do? Employers typically afford a candidate approximately 20 minutes to demonstrate why he/she is the most qualified to fill the company’s vacancy. With the competition for employment at an all time high, it is imperative that you walk away from the interview feeling you have imparted your skills, knowledge, and abilities in an eloquent, concise, and affirmative manner. Through our years of working with employers, we have compiled techniques interviewers recommend to perspective employees.
1. Research.
Take the time to research the company for which you will interview with.
Learn what the company produces, its successes, and hierarchy. Visit the location.
Visit the company’s Website and talk to anyone you might know who works there. What
types of people work there? What are the typical hours this position requires? What
are some of the day-to-day tasks that the job involves? Make note of things you
want more information about and ask the employer about them at the end of your interview
(it’s always a good idea to have a few questions to ask the employer, anyway!). Researching
a company and the position make you stand out in an interview. It shows that you
are really interested in working there.
2. Interview Content
This might sound asinine, but at the beginning of your interview be sure to introduce yourself to the entire interview panel by extending your hand for a firm handshake. The interview panel will begin the interview by asking, “why do you believe you believe you are qualified to fill the position for which you are interviewing.” Half the battle has already been won. The panel obviously believes you are qualified for the position because if not, you would not be sitting in the interviewee seat. So, now it’s all about selling yourself.
You should begin your interview with stating the school you graduated from (name and year), degree type earned, current employer, and a brief description of the duties coupled you’re your education that qualifies you for the position. The interview panel’s questions should be relevant to the position for which you are interviewing for. If during the interview you believe the panel has committed an employment rights act, there are numerous agencies for which you may contact a pertinent government agency and file an employment violation report. For a list of governmental agencies, click agencies to be directed to agencies that can assist with employment violations. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission can assist with employment violations ( http://www.eeoc.gov/).
